The Summum Restaurant of the Hotel Alimara offers you the possibility of tasting the winning dishes of the XXIX edition of the Cooking and Pastry and Catering Services Competitions of the CETT-UB.
These dishes will be available in the lunch menu of the Summum Restaurant, in limited edition and only during the month of March.
The winning proposals that you will be able to try are:
- "Cóctel Recol-lecció de fruits" - 1st Prize for catering service: Alba Valera (Student of 2nd year of Higher Technician in Catering Services Management).
- "L'anguila amb suc reinventada" - 1st Prize for cooking: Roger Bayo (Student of 2nd year of Higher Technical Degree in Kitchen Management).
- "Crujiente Etéreo" - 1st Prize for pastry Manuel Gómez (Student of 3rd year of Technical Cooking-Gastronomy and Pastry).
The jury was formed by Dr. Maria Abellanet, president of Grup CETT, Nan Ferreras (Director CETT- Escola d'Hoteleria i Turisme) and the external representatives: Mr. Àlex Galí (General Coordinator of Fundació Damm), Ms. Ichi Méndez (Fundació Damm) and Mr. Jose Martínez (Sommelier of Restaurant Via Veneto). The jury highlighted the creativity and professionalism shown by all the participants during the event.
Participation in this type of competition is a unique experience for CETT-UB students. They have the opportunity to value and demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their training. It also serves to reinforce and improve skills such as work organization, autonomy and initiative, as well as responsibility and communication under pressure.
The cooking finalists prepared a seasonal recipe based on a traditional Catalan dish and had to pair it with one of Estrella Damm's beers. For their part, the pastry finalists had to prepare a dessert in catering format. And finally, the catering finalists had to follow instructions for serving, presenting the dishes and making cocktails according to the protocol established by their teachers.
But the most important thing is that all the proposals were very creative and were delicious. Don't miss them!
